BACK TO COLLEGE
So finally it's the time of year when we get out of our holiday zone and go back to school/college/university.
It might be the first day for most of you'll entering your new university, being away from your school friends and starting a new phase of life alone. This is obviously nerve wrecking but all the more difficult is making the first impression in front of your peers . It's not necessary to glam up, be over the top just to make an impression. Just be true to yourself and dress just the way you do. If you want then you can jazz it up.
First thing to keep in mind is that do follow your university rules and regulations.
Growing up in a city like Mumbai and going through the education system here, there are few restrictions regarding clothing which are to be strictly followed. Just to help you'll out and make it easier for you guys, I have come up with 4 clothing options which are casual, comfortable and within the restrictions of most colleges throughout the country. Also these looks are such that won't burn a hole in your pockets.
1. Going Back to the BASICS
There is nothing like Basics when it comes to feeling comfortable, casual and effortless.
For this look, I have just paired up a simple, plain grey pair of jeans from Forever21 with an off white basic top which I have knotted up slightly near my waist. When it comes to footwear, I have opted for the classic black and white sneakers. Sneakers are so in style and go with most of the outfits and events. Not to forget the fact they are the most comfortable pair of footwear ever. To accompany the outfit, I have paired it up with a classic choker, square dial watch, round pair of sunglasses and a long side bag which is the appropriate size to carry the books, stationery, water bottle and other college essentials.

2. The Traditional Way
Now college/university life is not just about studies. It comes with many events and functions and one of the common events celebrated in every college in India is the Traditional day. Also there are many girls who at times want to change it up and wear something traditional to college. Because not only it is different but also super comfortable. For this look, I went ahead with a plain blue short length kurti and plain black churidaar. Accessorized it with a titan raga watch ( you can go for any dainty piece of watch of your choice) and a black jhola bag. Love the detailed design and embroidery on this bag.
3. Change it up with SEMI FORMAL
Presentations and Placement interviews are a major part of university life. There is a proper dress code when it comes to these formal events.Girls are required to wear either blazers, shirt and trousers or anything Indian. Talking from my own personal experience, adding trousers, blazers and this Mumbai heat is a bad combination. It's an extremely uncomfortable and irritating situation to be in. If you want to go a different route but be within the rules of the university, this look is the one to go for.
Pair up a plain black shirt with blue wide legged palazzos. I tucked in the black shirt to give it a formal and defined look. It is necessary to look well put together. Finish the look with a pair of wedges, hoop earrings and a dainty piece of watch. Carrying a purse is one's personal choice.
4. Go OUT OF THE BOX
There will always be those days where one will feel like dressing up differently, maybe like going out of the box. This outfit will be a head turner for all the right reasons and will be out of the box but within everyone's comfort zone. Comfort comes first especially when you are a student because not only you have college to attend but also classes and travelling through public transport.
Go ahead with a comfortable pair of blue denim with minimum distress, a black tank top and a long grey shrug on top of it. Wear a simple silver chain with a pendant. Avoid any chunky piece of accessory. Finish it with a pair of boots. If boots are not your cup of tea then sneakers are the way to go for.

These are some of the ideas for different events in college. Even though it might seem scary, just remember that everyone else with you are going through the same thing. So let go of the fear and enjoy this phase of life as it comes only once.
